Lowcountry Phone Directory wins 7 national awards, including Directory of Year

BEAUFORT, SC (March 18, 2020) — Carrying home a stack of plaques from the Association of Directory Publishers’ annual awards competition is nothing new for Brent Cooper. Just the same, making the haul never gets old for the owner of Lady’s Island-based CPC.

The 2020 edition of the Lowcountry Phone Directory won seven awards in the international competition for Yellow Pages publishers, including its second consecutive recognition as Directory of the Year among phone books with a distribution of 50,001 or more.

“We passionately go to a lot of effort to make sure the Lowcountry Phone Directory is something special,” Cooper said. “To have that effort recognized by professional judges, industry peers and our many advertisers is very gratifying.”

In addition to the Directory of the Year honors, CPC won four other first-place awards:

        Excellence in Cover Design and Art, print;

        Excellence in Cover Design and Art, product branding;

        Excellence in Ad Effectiveness and Design;

        Excellence in Marketing, Sales Support Collateral.

The Lowcountry Phone Directory also won a second-place marketing award for industry innovation and a third-place marketing award for printed direct mail, contest, magazine, newspaper, outdoor display or event.

The cover of the 2020 Lowcountry Phone Directory features a photo of the beach at Hunting Island State Park and was taken by local photographer Phil Heim. The directory’s cover has been honored with an ADP award several times, including 2019, when the cover photo featured a shot of the Parish Church of St. Helena and Baptist Church of Beaufort steeples, taken by drone.

The 2020 directory — the company’s 26th — was mailed earlier this month to customers in Beaufort, Jasper, Hampton and Colleton counties. In addition to residential and business listings, it includes profiles of prominent area residents, images captured by local photographers, a newcomers guide, and hurricane tracking and evacuation maps. Cooper prints his Yellow Pages on magazine-quality stock, delivers over 84,000 of the 90,500 press run through the U.S. Mail and uses call tracking to help advertisers measure the return on their investment.

“Brent Cooper and his employees should be very proud of the awards they won, particularly the Directory Excellence Award,” said Cindi Aldrich, president and CEO of ADP. “This is truly an accomplishment and an honor.”

ADP was founded in 1898 and includes members from the U.S., Canada and other nations. Its Directory Excellence Awards are for directory production and marketing-print and online products that are a jury-and peer-voted event that recognizes outstanding Yellow Page Publishers.

CPC is owned and operated by Cooper, the company’s founder and a Beaufort native.
